bgc — BG Communications GmbH

BG Communications GmbH

infrastructure, rethought — together with the municipalities.

This is the founding idea behind BGC: fibre isn't built for a region — it's built with it. In cooperation with municipalities and local authorities we plan, build and operate open networks — and this partnership is exactly why we succeed: high take-up rates and infrastructure that stays rooted in the community.

Key figures

the project in numbers.

Fibre is an infrastructure investment: high upfront capital, stable recurring revenue over decades. These four figures carry the business model.

Investment volume €75m through 2027, Braunau region
Fibre network >1,000 km route network in the region
Households 30,000 served by mid-2027
Take-up rate >60 % active contracts per connectable address

Investors

the backbone of the project.

Behind BGC are not anonymous funds but entrepreneurs and executives who have built, scaled and made rural fibre networks successful before — in Austria, in Spain and across Europe. They carry the project with capital, experience and their names.

Mario Treiblmair

Mario Treiblmair

Co-CEO & shareholder · Co-founder of Kabel Braunau

Mario Treiblmair has been building networks in the Braunau district for decades. As co-founder and managing director of Kabel Braunau GmbH, he grew the company into one of the region's leading broadband providers — with several hundred kilometres of its own fibre infrastructure.

Since Kabel Braunau and BG Communications joined forces in 2024, he has led BGC as Co-CEO and remains a shareholder. He stands for what cannot be imported: local knowledge, long-grown relationships with municipalities and partners — and the trust of the people whose homes the network reaches.

Johan Andsjö

Johan Andsjö

Non-executive director · Industrial advisor

Johan Andsjö is one of Europe's most experienced telecom executives. His career began at Telia in Sweden in 1995; in 1998 he helped launch the mobile operator TESS in Brazil. As CEO he led the Spanish operator Yoigo from market entry until 2012 — making it the country's fourth mobile network operator.

Since then he has guided telecom companies from the owner's side: as chairman of Adamo Telecom Iberia, as industrial advisor to EQT, on the advisory board of Melita (Malta) and the board of Odido (Netherlands). Since 2024 he brings this experience to BGC as a non-executive director — the knowledge of how regional networks become lastingly successful companies.

Fredrik Gillström

Fredrik Gillström

Investor · Founder of Adamo Telecom

Fredrik Gillström founded his first company at 16 — and with Adamo Telecom became the pioneer of rural fibre in Spain. Adamo was the first provider in the country to launch 100 Mbit/s, 300 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s, proving that fibre-to-the-home pays off beyond the big cities.

In 2016 the investor EQT acquired Adamo — Gillström reinvested, led the company as CEO until the end of 2019 and stayed engaged as a shareholder; in 2021 Adamo was sold to Ardian. His model — connecting rural regions with fibre, profitably — is the blueprint BGC follows in the Braunau region.

Local partnerships

the 50erl.

"50erl" is Austrian for a 50-cent coin. Take-up decides whether a fibre network succeeds — and trust in the community decides take-up. That's why BGC is rooted where its customers live.

For every active contract, BGC donates 50 cents to the organisations that carry the region: 40 cents to the local volunteer fire brigades, 10 cents to the Red Cross.

What carries weight in the village gets recommended — local partnerships aren't a marketing add-on, they're the key to the project's success.

Open access

one network. every provider.

BGC builds and operates the passive infrastructure — and opens it to all service providers. That's good for customers, and it's good for the investment.

Free choice of provider

Customers choose their internet provider freely — and can switch providers without switching networks.

Recurring revenue

Providers lease access to the network. BGC earns predictable, long-term infrastructure revenue — independent of any single retail product.

Higher utilisation

An open network wins more contracts than a closed one: providers competing on shared infrastructure drive take-up.

Partner model

three ways into the network.

The network grows with its partners. Depending on who you are, there's a dedicated way into the project.

For municipalities

Joint roll-out planning, transparent communication during construction and a network that stays rooted in the community — including the 50erl partnership.

For service providers

Open access to the passive infrastructure — on clear, transparent terms for every provider.

For investors

A stake in a long-term infrastructure asset with recurring revenue — we'll present the model and terms in person.

let's talk.

We'd be happy to walk you through the figures, the investment model and the roll-out plan in person.
